Established in 2007, Geominex Consultants Inc. provides geological and field operations support for exploration and development programs both across Canada and internationally. Headquartered in Vancouver with an operations hub in Timmins, we are uniquely positioned to support programs throughout Canada and beyond.

Geominex has successfully executed a diverse portfolio of exploration programs, managing complex logistics and technical operations both domestically and internationally from the Canadian Arctic to the Andean Cordillera and the Balkans. Our experience spans a wide spectrum of commodities and deposit types, including VMS, Porphyry Cu-Au, Orogenic Gold, and Magmatic Ni-Cu-PGM.

OUR LEADERSHIP

The Geominex team has been carefully assembled over the course of fifteen years, and is overseen by its founders, Mr. John A. Nicholson and Mr. Brian D. Game.

John A. Nicholson, P.Geo FRGS

President & Co-Founder

Mr. Nicholson has over forty years of experience in resource-related geological consulting. During his professional career he has led large and complex exploration projects in remote locations from northern Canada to the foothills of the Balkans. He has been involved in exploration programs and project management for both base and precious metals in North, Central, and South America as well as in Europe. He carries with him a wealth of experience in project management and logistics along with a strong geological background. Mr. Nicholson has a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia, and has been an accredited member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists since 1992 including designations in British Columbia, Ontario, and the Northwest Territories.

Brian D. Game, P.Geo

Vice President & Co-Founder

Brian Game, Professional Geologist, graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1985 and has over forty years of exploration experience in Canada and internationally.  Mr. Game has worked for both senior and junior mining companies and has extensive operational and drill program management experience ranging from preliminary testing to large programs for ore reserve definition.  He has experience in a variety of mineral deposit types including volcanogenic massive sulphide, magmatic nickel-copper, porphyry copper-gold, orogenic, epithermal and Archean gold systems, sediment hosted copper and skarn, and marine phosphate deposits.  Mr. Game has managed exploration programs for precious and base metals throughout Canada, South America, Europe (Albania) and Southeast Asia (Philippines).

Christopher G. Fozard, B.Sc.

Senior Project Manager

Chris Fozard has over twenty years of Canadian and international geological experience, beginning prior to graduation from Earth Science at Simon Fraser University in 2008. He has managed exploration and drill projects in remote locations including China, Liberia, Chile, and across Canada in Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Mr. Fozard has worked on deposit types including Archean, Carlin-type, epithermal, and orogenic gold, molybdenum porphyry, magmatic chromium-cumulate, and volcanogenic massive sulphides. His work sees exploration programs executed through all conditions and across language barriers, consistently delivering timely information and high-quality data. Mr. Fozard specializes in project management using his geological experience and team-building skills to organise crews and coordinate with contractors and clients.

Riley T. Ledoux, P.Geo

Exploration Manager

Riley Ledoux, Professional Geologist, graduated with distinction from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology. Since 2017 he has worked as an exploration consultant working with major and junior mining companies in Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Labrador. He has collected a wealth of experience on various deposit types including Archean and orogenic gold, Alkalic Porphyry, volcanogenic massive sulphides, shale-hosted massive sulphide, Mississippi Valley type, and uranium deposits. Spanning the full project lifecycle, from remote mapping to NI 43-101 reporting, Mr. Ledoux specializes in the strategic management of advanced-stage exploration programs and complex drill campaign planning.

Yi Jia (Shirley) Tai, B.Sc.

Senior Project Geologist G.I.T.

Shirley Tai graduated from the University of Victoria in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth and Ocean Science. Since then, Ms. Tai has worked in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Manitoba on Carlin-type, Archean gold, orogenic gold, and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. She has successfully managed multiple drill programs and put in efforts to make sure all deliverables are up to or exceed client standards. Ms. Tai contributes her geology knowledge and efficient communication skills to help push programs forward while maintaining a priority on safety.

Jack Gilfillan, B.Sc.

Project Geologist G.I.T.

Jack Gilfillan graduated from the University of Victoria in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and a minor in Geographical Information Technology. Since 2019 he has worked on Archean and orogenic gold deposits in British Columbia, iron ore deposits and orogenic gold in Western Australia and more recently VMS deposits in Manitoba. Mr. Gilfillan has led regional field programs for diamond drilling, soil and rock sampling, geological mapping, and has been responsible for core logging, chip logging, rig management, modelling of results, and report writing, and is proficient using MX Deposit, Acquire, Leapfrog, Micromine, ArcGIS, QGIS, and QField. Jack combines his geological knowledge with his leadership and communication skills to build effective and efficient teams in the field.

Ryan Pownall

Operations Manager

Ryan brings nearly twenty years of domestic and international operational experience to the team. A retired Corporal Logistics Specialist with the Australian Army, he holds Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications. He has managed field operations for hundreds of thousands of metres of drilling across Canada and Australia. His diverse background includes leading Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) crews in Africa and South America, and wildlife conservation work in South Africa. Since joining Geominex in 2022, Ryan has directed several large-scale logistics programs, overseeing complex mobilizations in remote-access environments nationwide.

Aidan McCreadie

Project Coordinator

Aidan brings nearly a decade of mineral exploration experience at Geominex from projects across Canada, including greenfield and advanced-stage programs in British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland. His background includes hundreds-of-thousands of metres of diamond and sonic drilling across a wide range of deposit types including Archean lode gold, VMS, epithermal systems, and spodumene-bearing pegmatites. His hands-on leadership and ability to coordinate large crews under remote and often challenging conditions make him a reliable asset in fast-paced exploration environments.

Brendan Muscalu, B.Sc.

Project Coordinator

Brendan earned his B.Sc. from the University of Victoria in 2022 and quickly found his footing in the mineral exploration industry with Geominex. Since then, he’s worked across Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia, and Northwest Territories, supporting projects for both junior explorers and major producers. Brendan brings hands-on experience in optimizing core logging procedures and field logistics, with a strong focus on QA/QC and data management. Known for his collaborative approach and clear communication, he’s passionate about building effective teams and delivering reliable results. He is committed to upholding high safety standards, reflected in his active role on multiple Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees. Brendan takes pride in contributing to efficient, safe, and successful exploration programs.

Laura Urrestta, B.Sc.

Human Resources Coordinator

Laura has over five years of experience supporting teams across human resources, communications, and client-facing roles. At Geominex, she plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the head office in Vancouver, managing core HR functions, including HRIS administration, data integrity, recruitment support, learning and development, and employee relations.

She works closely with leadership and teams to support the full employee lifecycle, ensuring processes are aligned with organizational growth. Known for her attention to detail and adaptability, Laura’s role continues to expand as Geominex grows, reflecting her commitment to build strong people practices and collaboration in the dynamic field of mineral exploration.

Our Consultants

Dr. Allan Miller, Ph.D.

Rock Whisperer

Dr. Miller is the principal of a mineral deposits consulting company that has been active for the last 25 years. Prior to 1997, Dr. Miller spent 25 years with the Geological Survey of Canada as a Mineral Deposits Research Scientist responsible for regional-scale metallogeny, deposit-scale alteration studies and regional and detailed mapping in northern Canada (eastern Northwest Territories and Nunavut).

Dr. Miller has worked on multiple deposit types: lode and epithermal gold, Ni-Cu-PGE, sediment-hosted red bed copper-silver and lead-zinc, uranium, diamonds, volcanogenic massive sulphide, and copper-gold porphyry in northern Canada, throughout Central and South America, Mexico, China, Russian Federation and Fennoscandia.

Dr. Miller has numerous publications to his name and has been a guest lecturer at several universities in both Canada and Europe.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Miller has worked exclusively with Geominex Consultants as our primary consulting geologist responsible for detailed geological mapping, ore petrography, SEM, deposit vectoring and ore deposit modelling.

Klodiana Kondo, CHRP

Human Resources Consultant

Klodiana first joined Geominex in 2008, contributing to the company’s early success by wearing different hats at its first mining exploration camp. She later transitioned to the Vancouver head office, where she continued supporting the company’s operations. After gaining valuable experience across various industries as an HR professional, Klodiana returned to Geominex in 2024 as HR Manager during a period of significant growth.

With over a decade of experience in human resources, Klodiana brings deep expertise in talent management—including employer branding, succession planning, and recruitment—as well as employee relations, performance management, compensation, and HR analytics. She is passionate about driving process improvements, advising leaders on HR best practices, and serving as a strategic business partner across the organization.

Len Gal, M.Sc.

Mapping and Geology Consultant

MSc Geology and over 30 years experience in mineral exploration and with Government Surveys. Len started in mineral exploration in BC’s Golden Triangle, and since that time has worked on projects throughout mainly northern and western Canada, but including USA, central and South America, Australia, Asia, Newfoundland and Greenland. He has in-the-field experience with diverse mineral deposit types including: orogenic and epithermal gold, porphyries, VMS, SEDEX, MVT, skarn, ultramafic intrusions, diamonds, sediment-hosted Cu, and others. Len has a strong skill set in geological mapping and analysis from regional government program scale down to detailed trench mapping and core and thin section studies. Through his career he has been involved in reconnaissance and research, property acquisition, development and execution of exploration programs from grassroots prospecting to drill testing, and expert technical reporting.
